OUR INSTRUCTORS

Nicole Reyes

Nicole first discovered her love for clay in 2012 while studying ceramics at Cal State LA. After graduating, she spent several years deepening her practice—experimenting with form, technique, and the possibilities of the medium. In 2016, she took a leap and opened a community ceramic studio in the heart of Frogtown.
Since then, Nicole has been teaching ceramics for over seven years and working professionally with clay for more than a decade. Her studio has become a creative home for countless artists, reflecting her passion for both craftsmanship and community-building.

Jasmin Olvera

Jasmin is a Los Angeles native and lifelong artist, born and raised right here in Frogtown. With over 15 years of experience in both handbuilding and wheel throwing, she brings a deep knowledge of ceramics to her practice. Her journey into making her own clay and glazes from raw materials sparked a profound love for the alchemy of transforming earth, intention, and imagination into lasting works of art.
Outside the studio, Jasmin is an avid reader and a lover of animated films. She finds inspiration in the magic of storytelling and is especially drawn to the quiet beauty of background details—those small, often-overlooked objects that bring fictional worlds to life. Through her work, she recreates these pieces in clay, translating imagined spaces into tangible forms. Jasmin is inspired by life’s grey areas and is passionate about adding color, whimsy, and meaning wherever she can.

Sarah Sobole

Sarah has had a passion for art from a young age and has a background in illustration, comics, and animation. She took her first ceramics class in 2012 and has been in love with the medium ever since. She loves both hand-building and wheel throwing, and especially enjoys experimenting with surface decoration techniques, incorporating her love of drawing and illustration into her ceramic work.

Lisa Sanchez

Lisa has been creating for as long as she can remember. Her creative journey began in the textile and fashion industries, where she honed her eye for detail, design, and material. Her first experience with clay came in junior high, where she discovered the tactile joy of handbuilding.
In 2017, Lisa took her first wheel-throwing class right here at Cobalt & Clay—and she's never looked back. By 2021, she began teaching wheel classes, sharing her love of clay and technique with others. Since then, she’s been joyfully exploring a wide range of decorative finishes and stylistic approaches, always driven by curiosity and a deep appreciation for craft.

Jamiee Zhuge

Jamiee Zhuge is a multidisciplinary ceramic artist based in Los Angeles. Her work blends both wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques, often unified by her fascination with texture and glaze experimentation. Jamiee’s creative process is deeply exploratory—she frequently pushes the boundaries of traditional ceramics by incorporating unconventional materials like glass, metal, and textiles.
In addition to her ceramic practice, Jamiee is also an accomplished jewelry artist. Her current work continues to expand into metal and glass, reflecting her passion for material interplay and transformation. Whether through sculptural pieces or wearable art, Jamiee brings a spirit of innovation and tactile curiosity to everything she creates.

We are a Los Angeles community ceramic studio offering classes, workshops, memberships, and private parties.
