ONE-TIME THROWING CLASS

This course introduces students to the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel.
Your instructor will guide you through the steps of creating a piece on the wheel.
Once your piece is thrown, our staff will trim, glaze, & fire your piece**.

OUR INSTRUCTORS

Nicole Reyes

Nicole first touched clay back in 2012 at CSULA. After majoring in ceramics, she spent a couple of years experimenting and getting more familiar with pottery. In 2016, Nicole decided to open a local community studio in Frogtown. Since opening the studio, Nicole has been teaching for seven years and working with clay professionally for over a decade.

Emily Chen

Emily (aka Em)'s obsession with pottery began in 2020, when she took her very first wheel throwing class. After getting laid off too many times working in the advertising industry, she took it as a sign to take the leap and pursue her dream in doing ceramics full time. When she's not teaching and/or working at a studio, she's either watching movies, making ceramics, or watching movies while making ceramics. she is so lucky to say that it wasn't she who chose the pottery life, but the pottery life that chose her.

Vani MacIsaac

​Vani MacIsaac is a potter and teacher, living in Los Angeles, CA. She has been a resident at Cub Creek Foundation in Appomattox, VA, and a recipient of the Studio Potter Grants for Apprenticeships.

Sarah Mitchell

Sarah is a Los Angeles-based ceramicist originally from Chicago. She has a background in music, comedy, acting, and the cannabis industry. She started doing ceramics full-time in fall of 2021 when she moved to LA and fell completely head-over-heels for the craft and the community. She primarily hand-builds and sells her work at markets most weekends.

PotterJoe

Ceramics has been an invaluable creative outlet and community builder. Cobalt & Clay has helped build PotterJoe's confidence in both creating and teaching unique ceramics

Lisa Sanchez

Lisa started her creativity from the day she was born. She got her start in the textile industry and fashion. She first started her clay journey in junior high school, hand building. Lisa took her very first throwing class at Cobalt & Clay in 2017. Since then she started teaching the wheel in 2021 and had been exploring many different decorative finishes and styles. ​

Jamiee Zhuge

Jamiee Zhuge is a ceramic artist based in Los Angeles. Jamiee creates a variety of work and incorporates both wheel throwing and hand building in her practice, and loves to explore interesting textures and glazes. She also loves to employ experimental techniques in her work by mixing mediums, including glass, metal, and textiles. In addition to ceramics, Jamiee is also a jewelry artist and is currently exploring metal and glass more extensively in her practice as well. ​
